Beetroot Avocado Indian Flat Bread – Freezer friendly

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend 🙂 Indians make flat bread daily or frequently especially for dinner. Some part of North Indians eat flat breads even for breakfast and lunch too.

When you are in diet, Eating flat bread will help you to lose some weight and also we can skip eating rice (Indians mostly prefer rice for lunch).

Instead of making plain flat bread. I added some beetroot and avocado for the tasty and healthy flat bread.

This flatbread can be made with all purpose flour, Whole wheat flour, Multi grain flour. This time I made it with Multigrain Flour. It is very simple and the good news it’s freezer friendly. Most of my recipes are freezer friendly.

So that you won’t give excuse to eat unhealthy food 😉 If you are hungry just take some flat breads and heat it over the tawa or microwave it and have it with Raita.

Let’s move on to the recipe…


Serve : 3 – 4


Avocado – 1/2 cup mashed, Fresh or frozen I used frozen avocado.

Beetroot – 1/2 grated

Cumin powder – 1 teaspoon

Sesame seeds – 2 tablespoon or less

Ginger garlic – 1 tablespoon paste or grated

Green chilli – 1 teaspoon finely chopped or paste as per taste

Coriander leaves – 1/4 cup Chopped

Mint leaves – 1/4 cup chopped

Whole wheat flour or flour of your choice – 2 Cups

Olive oil/ Spray oil

Salt – To taste

Method :

Prepare your ingredients. Wash and peel the beetroot skin and grate it. Chop mint and coriander leaves and keep aside.

Take whole wheat flour or flour of your choice in a bowl.



Add cumin powder and mix.



Then add ginger, garlic and green chilli.


I used white sesame seeds you can also use black.


Add chopped coriander and mint leaves. I have used frozen coriander and mint leaves.


Finally add the main ingredients grated beetroot and mashed avocado.


Without adding any water make a dough. If needed, just sprinkle some warm water and make into a soft dough and rest the dough for 15 – 30 mins.


After 30 minutes knead the dough briefly and divide into small balls. I made 9 medium sized ball.


Roll out the dough and meanwhile heat the tawa in medium flame. The shape may not be perfect but it tasted heavenly 😉 After rolling we always rest the rolled dough on the paper 🙂


Then cook the rolled dough on tawa on medium heat until cooked. Just like tortilla. Filliping and roasting on both the sides by brushing some oil or spraying.

Colorful and fully healthy packed Beetroot Avocado flat bread is ready to be served. I served it with potato curry 🙂

I freeze the leftovers and use whenever you want to eat just take one and heat on tawa or microwave it for 30 seconds or until it’s soft.
